News: Sad Day or M$ Rant
Posted on Tuesday, May 20 @ 15:49:17 MDT by kusi
It has been a sad day! My new site, well let's better call it a sceleton for the moment ;) has been online for 2 days only and the statistics show that Internet Explorer took over the lead :-(
Wake up people! Don't follow the masses, be individual :) but more important: stay safe! Use condoms and another browser - IE is by far the most insecure browser out there! I'm not saying the others are perfect but a better choice (isn't life not all about choice?), just read a few of the security forums or look at the never ending security updates from M$. Never heard of or installed security updates? Here we go again!
I urge you to give Opera or Mozilla a test run if you only know IE. Even if you had bad experiences with Netscape or an early version of Mozilla in the past - they grew up in the meantime. (IMHO Mozilla 1.4 is superior to IE 6).
Now I better don't start ranting about Outlook...
If I couldn't convince you to switch then for gods sake: At the very least DISABLE ActiveX and active scripting, especially in Outlook! And keep your browser & OS up to date. Windows Update is probably the only justified reason to use IE, but it needs ActiveX...
Furthermore install a firewall and a virus scanner...
If you don't know how, ask the geek or hacker next door. And no, hackers are NOT the bad guys as the media usually abuses it! But that's another story, that's it for today...
Note: I'm not a *nix evangelist, my OS is XP Professional and after getting rid of its default telletubie look I'm pretty happy with it - just be aware of the Microsoft IE and Outlook risks!
